I am a member of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America.
My pleasure and goal is to collect some of the more interesting early automobiles and to restore and preserve them for future generations' enjoyment. Few other vehicles can give you the thrill of rolling down the road in a noisy, vibrating auto with the wind whistling in your ears, the sunlight on the shiny brass, and the aroma of the leather seats and the gleam of fine woodworked panels.
My collection pays tribute to those early pioneer industrialists and back yard builders of yesteryear.
Designed from a picture in a gasoline collectable book, my father and I built it from scratch, the hardest part being the window frames. The pumps are genuine gasoline pumps from of the era, and our Shell station is constructed to allow it to be unbolted and moved.
The actual gas stations were built in San Francisco California, and were first seen at the Panama Pacific International Exposition. They were built in kit form then shipped all over the United States.
Many early Shell Company maps show their gas stations on the cover.
